City of Durango
Home rule with a City Council/Manager; five city council members are elected to four-year terms. The city is supported primarily by a sales and use tax imposed by the city at the rate of 2.5%. City sales and use taxes account for approximately 50% of general-fund revenues annually. Another 18% of the city's general-fund revenues come from the distribution of the County's 2% sales tax.
