A beach destination, by its very nature, inspires creativity. From the rhythmic sound of the waves lapping against the shore to the warm sunshine and sea breeze, nature plays an important role in nurturing creativity.

4. Capturing the Coastal Style Through Photography
Nothing quite captures the nature of coastal style quite like photography. It has the power to conjure up feelings of peace and relaxation as we dream of being in our favourite beachside and harbourside spots. Whether it’s a mesmerising landscape shot, a unique portrait of the shore or a still life of a sandy beachscape; it’s easy to capture all the elements of coastal living in a single shot.
Equipment
- Digital Camera
- Tripod
- External Memory Card
These days, anyone can take great coastal shots with just a digital camera and some patience. A tripod is ideal if you want to take long exposure photos of the picturesque views, as these will ensure that the photo is taken in its entirety and with the least blur possible.
Getting the right perspective is a must when capturing coast-style, so if you’re up for a bit of a climb try taking your photos from a higher perspective – the contrast between land and sea can be quite dramatic. Alternatively, if you want to get a shot of crashing waves and a dramatic sky, head down to the beach for some more interesting angles.
5. Becoming Part of the Creative Scene: A Reflection on Coastal Culture
It’s undeniable that the Coastal culture is a vibrant and diverse mix of ideas and personalities. Whether you’re a newcomer or a life-long local, experiencing and becoming engrained in the lore is a part of everyday life. To me, the culture of the Coastal region is composed of three integral elements – the people, traditions, and creativity.
- The People:
A region’s culture is built upon the stories told by its people. Growing up in the Coastal area, I was fortunate enough to have countless opportunities to socialize and communicate with others. Whether it be at the local hangout spot or mingling with family and friends, hearing stories of lives, different cultures, and exploration gave me insight into how the Coastal region has come to be the gem of diversity that it is. - The Traditions:
Though often hidden for the vast majority of the year, traditions of the area blossom in the warm summer months. Things like beach bonfires, star-gazing, turtle tours, and coastal bike rides bring communities together to share snippets of what being in this region really means. Being able to explore the diverse cultures and customs each summer has made me feel more at home and connected to the Coastal region. - The Creativity:
The Creative Scene in the Coastlines is a reminder of the strength and vitality of the community. From the art studios to the local theater, the creativity bubbling below is a testament to the creativity and resilience of the people living in the area. As someone who lives and works in the Coastal area, I’m constantly inspired by the thought-provoking and innovative works of the locals.
From the people to the culture to the creative scenes, each element of the Coastal region binds together to create a place of stability, growth, and creative exploration. The Climate of the region may change but the importance of shielding the stories and concepts of the Coastal culture will continue to remain unchanged.
Exploring art and culture at the beach can be a rewarding and eye-opening experience. With the ocean as our backdrop, it’s easy to become enchanted with creativity in all its forms. Whether it’s finding inspiration from the elements, marveling at the works of a master or collaborating with other creatives, there’s no shortage of ways to experience the creative energy of the coast. The beach is the perfect place to get inspired and reconnect with our creative side.
